We offer all the basic tools in black and will also special order anything we don't carry, including stainless steel tools if you are ready to look the part of "Bonsai Master".  I sell the same tools I use- product testing in action!

"Flat" Concave cutters
5.25" - $31.00  6.75" - $32.50  8" - $33.50  11"- $51.00
The 8 inch CC is a standard in the industry and should be included in the tool kit of every beginner and intermediate bonsai student. It is designed to cut branches flush against the trunk (an almost impossible task with an ordinary shear). Our version is made of high quality Yagimitsu steel and is finished in black. The flat cutting head is useful in all situations and mandatory for cutting plants with delicate bark such as azaleas where indented cuts are not advisable.   Other sizes should be purchased depending on the size bonsai you prefer.

"Long" Concave Cutter  7" - $31.60
This is a variation on the 5.75" Concave Cutter. At 7 inches it is only slightly longer than our regular mame cutter allowing the jaws to bite through material that is 3/4 of an inch (2cm) in thickness. The shank of the tool is also slightly elongated to allow it to penetrate into tight spots on tiny trees. The Ryukoh construction means the tool will hold its edge for a long time before sharpening is required.

Scissors  7.25" Bowed Handled - $16.50
This beginner grade shear is the one most generally associated with the art of bonsai. The tool measures 7.25 inches (17.8cm) in length and is characterized by very heavy, 2 inch (5cm) long, cutting blades and a large bowed handle. The short, massive blades on this tool are the thickest available on any of our tools and will allow you to tackle heavy cutting jobs with ease. It is a well built tool with a black finish and will cut through larger branches quickly and efficiently.

8.25"  Straight Handled  - $16.40
A most efficient tool for general bonsai shaping and trimming. This tool features straight handles which allows the cutting blades of the tool to penetrate into tight areas (unlike bowed handled tools). This is a beginner grade tool which measures 8.25 inches (21cm) long and has 2.5 inch (6cm) cutting blades. It is available in black finish only.

6" Mame/Shohin Detail Shear - $24.50
If you're into "shohin" bonsai then these will be a very welcome addition to your tool kit. It is black finish and measures 6.25 inches long with 1.5 inch (4cm) cutting blades. Two round looped handles clasp the middle finger and thumb securely which allows you to accurately make minute adjustments in the cutting angle of the tool. Its straight handles and narrow triangular design allow access into small spaces and its Yagimitsu construction guarantee you years of service. The blades are secured with a threaded screw, which, when it becomes loose, can be easily tightened with a screw driver.

Wire Cutters 7" - $31.50  8" - $33.20  9" - $45.00
Pick the size to match your trees! If your trees are small the 8" will cover most of your needs.   There's a heavy duty tool for those who need to cut the big stuff. At slightly more than 9 inches (23cm) in length, this cutter can tackle the toughest job without the danger of springing the tool's jaws. All the cutting heads are designed to efficiently cut through even the thickest copper or aluminum. They are placed directly on the end of the tool and immediately behind the rivet. This allows considerable torque in removing the wire and yet does not endanger delicate bark. The tool is finished in black and designed for hard work.

Root/Trunk Cutters  6" - $23.00 8.25" - $26.80  17" - $99.00  8.25" "Funky" - $28.00
Whatever size your bonsai, there's a splitter for you!  All are built to the same performance standards.  Each has a flat cutting head set at a right angle to the body of the tool. The cutting jaws meet almost straight on and that means it will be easier to sharpen should it ever become dull. When working on bonsai roots covered in soil and stones, it is easy to nick a cutting edge. Because the flat cutting edges meet almost straight on, this tool is excellent for splitting branches and small trunks. The black finish is on rock hard Yagimitsu steel that will give years of service.

"Funky" Splitters - This tool is specifically designed for the task of splitting trunks and branches on bonsai and is NOT suited to cutting roots. It is a professional grade tool with a specific function. The splitter is finished in black and measures 8.25 inches (21cm) in length. It has two wedge shaped cutting blades that are directly opposed and measure slightly over .25 inch (.6cm) in width. This causes the tool to "pierce" rather than "cut" into the wood. This positioning of the blades allows the user to make a gradual and precise split in the desired trunk or branch with great control. The size will work well in most cutting situations. Hard Yagimitsu steel and precise construction guarantee that this specialized tool will perform its function well for many years

Jin/wire Pliers  7" - $24.00  9" - $27.00

Again, pick the size to match your need.  The larger, with an overall length of 9 inches (23cm) allows you a solid grip and the ability to apply more torque when turning thick wire or tough wood. The jaws meet flat and measure 1.25 inches (3cm) in length. They feature serrated edges to give a firmer grip on wire or wood. It is an intermediate to professional grade tool and is designed for hard work. The head is mounted directly on the end of the tool which will allow "straight in" access to tight portions of the tree. Yagimitsu steel and construction make it among the best on the market.
